| Life is Good |
It's Been on the Wall
Folks the writing has been on the wall for about two years now. The housing market collapsed, corporate downsizing, and now the banks are struggling. Do you have any idea what is coming? Neither do I... but it's not going to be pretty!
Quoting an AP story 7/16/2008: This is "the highest inflation since the early 1980s and a suggestion by the Federal Reserve that worse days are ahead." Folks it's time to protect you assets and dig in really deep for a long bumpy ride ahead. I've been studying this for the past three years and no matter what some economists say the silver lining isn't there right now. The message is crystal clear and simple to follow: Protect yourself!!! Move that 401K money into the safest place not the highest yielding place, or it just may not be there when you reach for it. The FDIC only does so much. We have moved from Easy Street USA to Hunker-Downsville!... after all... this IS life in the new millennium.
Sometimes it just needs to be said!
So with that all said don't forget if you can't afford to go see Jimmy Buffett this year there are a bunch of us independent artists working our butts off trying to stay afloat in this economy that would love to have you come out and see our shows. Hope you can find the time and the gas money to do just that!Have a great summer.

Quote of the day
"Remember, I started out with nothing, and still have most of it left, but even still, it is everything to me!"
THOUGHTS WORTHY OF MAKING THE FRONT PAGE.
(Don't shoot the messenger please!) YES, I'M A BAD AMERICAN Am the Liberal Progressive's Worst Nightmare. I am American. I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some Liberal governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!
I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way! I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English. I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to. My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer. I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it. I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already. I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA. If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you. I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one? I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them. I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are. And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it's good..... and I'm proud that 'God' is written on my money. I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years. I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause. I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents. I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think. I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA! If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American. If you are a BAD American too, please forward this to everyone you know. We want our country back! We NEED GOD BACK IN OUR COUNTRY!
THEY HAVE GIVEN UP!
Last night, around 10 PM while driving highway 5 northbound from down town San Diego all the way to La Jolla Village Drive (approximately 12 miles) I was behind a very drunk driver. This driver was swerving two lanes left and right. He or she was a danger to them self and every other driver in the area. After watching for about 3 to 4 minutes I decided I had to do something so I called the California Highway Patrol to report it. They said, "OK thanks, we'll watch for him" and they hung up the phone. That was it? I'm pissed off!
I'm going to rock this boat and I don't care who gets ticked off at me. The CHP and Cal Trans have given up on making our highways safe and that includes protecting you and me from dangerous drivers. There is no question in my mind they [CHP] have given up. They allow people to drive 90 miles per hour day and night. They allow people to make three lane changes to pass someone on the right side so they can get one car length ahead. People that driver dangerously continue to do it because there is no fear of the law in my state. People all know that they're not going to get caught and even in the slightest event if they do the worst thing that will happen is they will get a ticket that they can go to some BS traffic school and it doesn't even show up on their record. Big damn deal. Dangerous drivers should be put behind bars (No Jim not bars that serve alcohol) but jail-bars. They should lose the right to drive altogether and their vehicles should be confiscated from them at some point. But nothing happens until someone dies. I don't know what the numbers are but dangerous drivers are responsible for killing people everyday. I don't want you to become one of those statistics and I don't want to be one of those people either. Yes I'm venting but I AM right. The California Highway Patrol and CalTrans (our state department of transportation) have lost total control. They have given up! And they are doing nothing to change this perilous situation. My state's highway taxes which are the highest in the continental United Sates, that we pay in our $4.75 a gallon gas, are supposed to go to helping make our highway system safer. I say we're not only getting hosed at the pump by the oil companies but were getting it on the highway too. WARNING: Don't come to California folks unless you want to see Disneyland and the worst friggen drivers on earth. Make sure if you do come out here you take a drive on highway 5... for these are the most dangers drivers this man I has ever seen. I'm outraged and so should you be.
Had To Post It!
The Tree I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. . His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. 'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in t he hou se with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.' 'Funny thing is,' he smiled,' when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.' THIS ONE IS WORTH SENDING ON
We all need a Tree! Life Isn't about waiting for The storm to pass, It's about learning to dance In the rain.

Those Born 1930-1979
READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO IF YOU DON'T READ ANYTHING ELSE-----VERY WELL STATED TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's! First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING ! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day and we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We didn’t have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers iPods and no Internet or chat rooms....... WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls an, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them! Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! If YOU are one of them then CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives “for our own good”. And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were. Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?! The quote of the month is by Jay Leno: With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of allegiance?' For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us go ahead and forget about this. BUT for the rest of us... well how many times do I need to say this: LIFE IS GOOD and we made it this far! Rock on!
Yeah Baby
May 21st 2008
Surf is pumping and I am way out of shape. Tis the season to pull it off the ceiling hangers, dust it off, wax it up and paddle out. I really feel lucky to be able to sing for a living and just for fun for that matter... but I love surfing just about as much as anything else on this earth! The sun is out and the sets are 6 foot and it looks like I'll be late to work! Have a great day everyone!

The comparisons to Jimmy Buffett are impossible to avoid, but Seiler has something the 'pirate' really can't relate to. Seiler has come out of a white collar working man's world, complete with all the politics and social experience it brings, to arrive at a place of appreciation that bleeds from his songs. The songs are ripe and full of solid melody and production - but it's the words that really touch. He writes not so much tongue-in-cheek as he does heart-in-mouth. We appreciate that. His CD, "He's Finally Living", opens with the title track. The tune chronicles a man who's basically escaped from the rat race to finally live - although, 'the money's wearin' thin'. Seiler is an admitted avid surfer - and he's got a hip upbeat surf tune that is a well-done anthem for boardin' buds. Cozumel is the long mp3 tune here - the song opens with a subtle acoustic guitar and steel guitar as Seiler relates the story of 30 people traveling to Mexico with guitar in hand. In track 5, "It's All About Me", is about heartbreak and regret. Sumptuous pedal steel is in the clip here. Our favorite track is the 9th, "Laid Back and Tan", Seiler lays it on the line as he sings dedicated love to his son and his parents who are still around. The instrumentation on the tune is beautiful - a heavily reverbed acoustic guitar provides the bed for Seiler's baritone, and the tasty accordion pierces the heart. Cool CD - Island Country Rock Pop.
Gary Seiler's 2002 CD, "Living on Dreams", is a 13 tune collection that flows as easily as fine tequila. Less ambitious than his latest, these tunes are straight ahead good-time Buffett-ish tunes that combine humor and heartache. Track 2 is laugh-out-loud funny as "Run Tourist Run" has the entire Atlantic region fleeing a hurricane. Track, 5, "Captain of My Ship", is an anthem for sailors everywhere. The long mp3, "Mexico", tells the tale of May trips south with fruit and a margarita life. Track 11, "Can't Let Her Go", is a forlorn tune about how 'love touches you and then goes, it's so hard on your soul when you can't let 'em (her) go'. The craft is absolutely solid - well done singer/songwriter tunes that have a home in any warm beach-front bar.

Very Rewarding!!!
The most wonderful feeling we get as entertainers, songwriters, musicians or whatever hat we are wearing, is a feeling of gratitude when we receive calls, cards and letters from someone whose path we crossed along the way. Recently I received a card and a nice letter from a Margaret Kelly all the way over in
Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.
Mrs. Kelly was visiting her daughter here in San Diego. While here she decided to go to El Dorado Ranch in San Felipe, Baja Mexico for a week. While at the ranch they heard my CD playing and asked the DJ who it was and when they returned back home her Daughter ordered it off the Internet. Margaret had to leave for home back in Ireland before it arrived at her daughters house... So... her daughter forwarded it to her and now she said,
It's Finally Living in Ireland.
That's so cool... Margaret, God bless you and your family and thank you so much for reaching out to touch me with your wonderful words and encouragement. A new CD is on it's way to you... Hope you enjoy this as much as the first one...
Sincerely, Gary Seiler
So What's a Couple Billion???
According to Forbes Magazine Uncle Warren Buffett is now the world's richest man at $62 billion. In second place is Carlos Slim at $60 billion and rounding out the top three, after a 13 year run at the top of the list is Bill Gates with $58 billion dollars.
So where do you fit in all of this? I don't have the money but I feel like I'm one of the richest people on earth. I have a great family, wonderful friends and I have God. With all of that and a little bit of money hey what can I say, Life Is Good.
You think money makes you rich? It makes you wealthy but riches come from another place. I know many people that have more money than they could ever spend and they're not happier for it. Riches come from within. Don't confuse wealth with riches.
Make it a great day.

The Prayer
I was asked to email four people with this prayer but I say heck let me post it on my website and let many more people read this prayer. I thought it was cool: I'm cool: so now you are cool too: The prayer: Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of your love and power. I also ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Where there is need, I ask You to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. In Jesus' precious name I pray, Amen.

What a Great Day!
Thankfulness... I have friends that inspire me daily. They don't know it and it's not important that they do... They seem to wake up everyday and live that day with passion and inspiration. They have ailments such as we all do and age has crept up on them in some cases but they seem to see the good and they seem to be grateful for that day and every day. I hope you think you are one of these people and if you know that you are not and you'd need a friend to help you send me an email and ask me what can be done to help change your attitude and help you turn that corner to become an appreciative person... everyday! Never take one day, one friend, or one breath for granted!

... Old Friends ...
Life is Good! Just wanted to share this: I recently reacquainted with my old musical buddy Tim Knorr. Tim was the first guy I ever played Jimmy Buffett music with back in the days of the late 1970's when we were hired to play the final two days of business at my old stomping grounds Andy's Saloon. The very next day the bulldozers demolished the old building. One of my longest friendships... Just made me smile big time...

15 YEARS AGO TONIGHT
I was opening Jimmy Buffett's Concert. Hard to believe so many years have passed by. I think back to those days... there were no Parrot Head Clubs around and I was the only guy in So Cal singing all those songs you knew by heart... It was a very good time in life, but these are the best days yet. Thanks to all my friends fans and family for all the support over this wild and fun ride. Thank you Jimmy Buffett for the four opportunities to play and hang out with you over the past years. You have been amazing to so many of us!!! Steve King and Pam, wish you were both still with us. We miss you! God bless.
Surfing in October
Went for an autumn surf session with my surfing bud James on Monday. We were the only two surfers out at Law Street... the sun was beaming bright and no wind so the day was perfect... except after being in the Cancun water where temps were 88 degrees the Pacific Beach 64 degree water was Chili Willie... Life is good!
Polar Bear and and Husky... great story

Words from my Hero
Recently I saw some memorabilia of one of America's legendary entertainers, Neil Diamond. One of the items that touched me the most was a boxing glove that was autographed to Neil from Mohammad Ali.
He wrote, "To Neil, Enjoy life. It's better than we think. 4/20/1977"
I was blown away at his words and Neil considered it one of his most treasured of his personal memories. Life is good!
The Heart
My brother said something to me Christmas day that stuck with me. "People who live from their heart have a blessed life."
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away." Don't waste a moment... or a breath ...
